"The Nine Muses", a sculpture by Carlos Dorrien, is installed in a broad gravel courtyard. It is a favorite of visitors and many like to sit on the benches and contemplate it. Both of these images were made on a warm winter day. Dana Stewart has a bunch of "beasties" that are installed in a circle around plantings. The one shown below is the largest. Itsak Benshalom's towering sculpture, "First Love" sits beside a small lotus pond opposite the Gazebo.

J. Seward Johnson, Jr, sculpts life sized, 3-dimensional scenes based on paintings of the French Impressionists. Below are scenes from his sculptures, titled "If It Were Time," based on Claude Monet's "Terrace at Sainte-Adresse". The first two show the scene as Monet painted it. The first one was taken in color with visible light, and then converted to B&W, while the second was shot as an IR color image and then converted. You can see the difference in the way the foliage turned out. The next two show Johnson's sense of humor. He titled this sculpture "Copyright Infringement." It shows Monet painting Johnson's sculpture, which of course, could be considered a copyright infringement by Johnson himself.

This color IR image shows Johnson's sculpture in colors very much like it appears in a visible light photo. The second image shows a close-up of the head of Monet in "Copyright Infringement."

Autin Dean Wright is a blind sculptor from New Mexico. The panoramic scene below shows his fiberglass sculpture titled "Carmelita" which is installed at one end of a larger lotus pond near the Seward Johnson Center for the Arts building. To me, Carmelita looks like a smaller version of Nessie, the Loch Ness monster. I stitched the five images into the panorama and then tried to increase the contrast. But the pano turned out very "soft." So I chose the middle of the images and post processed it all by itself. The contrast turned out more to what I had in mind for the panorama.
